In Javanese culture, the body is not only a means of self-expression, but also an archive: holding lived experience, accumulated knowledge, and cultural values passed down from one generation to the next. In this work demonstration, audiences will witness workshop participants demonstrate the training with master teacher Pujiyani, drawing from the teachings of Hasta Brata — a Javanese philosophy that outlines eight principles of leadership, aligned with eight elements of nature: sun, moon, stars, earth, fire, wind, water, and ocean. In this context, the lessons of the Hasta Brata are transmitted through movement and song, carried by the Sinden (solo singer). The body becomes a medium to express the concept of leadership and power in Javanese culture, which is not solely about the ability to organize and control others, but the discipline to master oneself. In this way, the body is presented as both a cultural trace and a living archive that continues to adapt, remember, and carry meaning.
