How does the body hold what society has taught us to hide? This workshop offers an embodied inquiry into our shadows — the abjected, disavowed, or obscured sides of ourselves — which are formed in response to social, cultural, and political conditions, and influence how we move, behave, and relate. The workshop invites participants to sense how the body carries what has been rendered unconscious or suppressed through processes of normalisation, regulation, and social control, and how these unseen dimensions shape our presence, intentions, and actions. Through somatic awareness, emotional attunement, and movement exploration, participants are guided into the shadow space. The aim is not to change or remove our shadows, but to allow them to be present, legible, and felt within a shared embodied space. Rather than producing aesthetic representation, the focus is on listening to bodily sensation before it becomes language or form. What emerges when we listen to the stories our bodies have been forced to silence? By attending to what is often unseen or unnamed, participants experience how shadow practice can support more grounded, connected, and present performance practices.
