Nabilah Said is a playwright, editor and arts practitioner in Singapore. She has presented work with theatre companies such as Teater Ekamatra, The Necessary Stage, Drama Box, The Theatre Practice and T:<Works, as well as independent creatives in Singapore. She is the founder of Main Tulis Group, a theatre collective which co-organises the regional playwriting programme Nusantara Open Circle with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay. Her works include ANGKAT (2019) (Best Original Script, Life Theatre Awards 2020), and Inside Voices (2019) (Outstanding New Work, VAULT Festival, London). Nabilah is currently working on Territori, a play about the Malay communities in Singapore and Christmas Island, Australia. She has presented work in Singapore, London, Malaysia, and Nepal.
Nabilah is the editorial lead of data storytelling studio Kontinentalist, which advocates for a more equitable world through fostering connections between Asia’s sources of knowledge. She was formerly the editor of regional publication ArtsEquator, working with creatives from Southeast Asia to produce original content about the arts, and worked as an arts correspondent with Singapore’s main broadsheet, The Straits Times, covering the arts, culture and lifestyle beats. She has also created poetry installations for the Singapore Art Museum and Singapore Art Week 2023.
